Sweet Potato Chews
How the dogs love these and you can't much better than a one ingredient treat. These are also good for puppies who want to chew, since rawhide isn't recommended for young ones.
Sweet potatoes are loaded with beneficial nutrients like Vitamin E, Vitamin B6, Potassium, and Iron.

Bailey's Designer Blankets
I have fallen a bit behind on entries, but I'm trying to catch up.
I have made Bailey's Designer Blankets and was so happy on how soft they are. These are double sided flannel blankets have double seams for better wear. They are great for dog beds, on the sofa, your bed or anywhere you pet loves to lay. Machine wash and dry makes it easy to keep clean.
You can have blankets made to order, you just need to pick the size and the material you want.
Approximate sizes:
21" x 21" $8.99 (...picture shown is this size)
31" x 31" $11.99
42" x 42" $14.99
Materials are always changing so email for a list of what is available.

Network & Progress
I made a small sized puppy blanket on the weekend and pictures will be posted soon. The double sided flannel makes it so nice and soft. The puppy material is really cute and I'm hoping to give lots of choices to pick your own design. I've been working on a breath buster cookie but it hasn't had final approval yet. I have quite a few new treats in the works and you'll be the first to know about them when they are 2 paws up.
I have already had people asking if I want pictures of their pets for my sites... yes of course, I think it will be great to see the other fur babies enjoying Paws Bakery goodies.
Drop me a note if you would like to showcase your pet... I would love to hear from you.

Gelatin for Dogs

I have been working on a gelatin treat (licorice) for the dogs and I am finally happy with the consistancy and the dogs have given it 2 paws up. The dogs love them no matter which flavour I make them with - no sugar added juices or homemade broths. Below is an article that I found that explains how gelatin can help dogs now and also prevent problems in later years.
Enjoy.
Luka's Licorice
Ingredients
No sugar added juice, filtered water and gelatin.
OR
Homemade broth (no added salt or preservatives) filtered water and gelatin.
Cost: $4.00 1/2 pound
Gelatin for Arthritis in Dogs
By Jelena Woehr
eHow Contributing Writer
Gelatin contains glycine, an amino acid that has
anti-inflammatory and brain-protective properties. Adding plain, unflavored gelatin to a dog's food may prevent arthritis.
Function
1. Gelatin can help to prevent arthritis, arthrosis and other degenerative joint disorders. It functions by reversing or preventing glycine deficiency, which can lead to joint disease.
Types
2. Only plain, unflavored gelatin free of any additives or sweeteners should be fed to dogs.
Benefits
3. Benefits of gelatin for dogs with arthritis may include reduced inflammation and reduced pain. However, gelatin is most beneficial if fed as a preventive to help healthy dogs avoid joint disease.
Theories/Speculation
4. Carnivores naturally consume gelatin and its primary amino acid, glycine, in the skin, tendons and cartilage of their prey. Since most pet dogs do not eat skin, tendons and cartilage, some pet owners speculate that glycine deficiency is responsible for many cases of arthritis.

New Treat
This weekend I've been working on a treat made with gelatin. I have been researching the benefit of giving the dogs a gelatin treat. It's good for their joints and help with arthritis and hip dysplasia. The treats have come out pretty good but I want to make them more dense, so back to the drawing board. The dogs are loving these treats and will sit in a row waiting for their turn to get one.
Hopefully later today I will have time to start working on some warmers too. Microwave for a few minutes to warm them up and then into the blanket or bed. I'm hoping the double-side fleece blanket will hold the warmth and leaving the warmer under the blanket will make the heat last longer.
Off to the kitchen and working on treats!!

New Start
Today I started my first blog and I am looking forward to making new friends. One of the goals for this blog is to offer high quality healthy treats made with homemade broths and a variety of flours. No added salt, preservatives or sugar will be added to any of the treats. I'm also working on a line of blankets, warmers, toys and other accessories for our fur babies. Luka, Bailey and Teddy Bear (Teddy for short) are my test tasters and quality inspectors. They really do enjoy their jobs.
